Camp Pasquaney, New Hampshire
About » Activities
Pasquaney offers many activities to allow each boy a chance to find his own place to enjoy and excel. To learn more about each individual activity, choose one from the drop-down menu above.
One of our goals for the summer is to help boys develop initiative and to plan their time. Counsellors announce activities after the meals. Boys are scheduled for an activity about one third of the time. The rest of the time they choose from the options that the counsellors announce. We require the boys to keep busy, but it is up to them to shape their time as they choose. Counsellors work with boys to use time effectively. We encourage them to try everything in their first year, to be renaissance campers, and later to concentrate on their particular interests.
The daily schedule helps boys get to know all of their fellow campers. By lunch, each boy will have been in five different small groups. He will start the day with his dormitory, gather briefly with the whole camp in the oldest dorm after reveille for a morning prayer, eat breakfast with the boys at his table, go to two or three activities with other boys, gather with the whole camp once more for a soak in the lake, and play games or rehearse a play before joining the whole camp again at lunch. This constant mixing leads to the gelling of the community over the course of the summer.
Duties (such as sweeping dormitories, setting tables, caring for tennis courts) assist the operation of the camp and teach the value of each individual’s contribution. Duties rotate daily.
The daily schedule normally follows this pattern:
